EFFECTIVE GUM DISEASE TREATMENT

Healthy gums are firm, pink and do not bleed.

In the early stages of gum disease (gingivitis) the gums begin to get red and puffy and may bleed during brushing or flossing.

Regular dental check-ups and examinations are important because it is possible to have gum infections without the usual signs and symptoms.

They may advance painlessly, exhibiting few evident signs even in the late phase of the disease.

This explains the increased risk of losing one’s teeth.

If the disease has progressed beyond gingivitis to periodontitis, the process may involve a procedure called deep cleaning (root planning).
